Saxophone
Hi, I am a native born Michigander and grew up in Traverse City. I began playing
Saxophone in 6 th grade and went on to play in the then Traverse City Junior High and
Senior High Symphony Bands, Jazz Bands and Marching Bands. In my Junior year, I
was awarded a scholarship to attend the All-State Band program at the Interlochen
Music Camp where my saxophone instructor was Elaine Zajak, who also happened to
be the instructor at Michigan State University. She arranged for me to receive a music
scholarship there, and so I attended the music school at MSU where I studied under
Ms. Zajak, and performed in the MSU Symphony, Concert and Marching Bands, as well
as the MSU Saxophone Quartet, eventually earning a BA in Instrumental Music
Education.
