Flute
Gia Evans comes from a family of musicians and has been playing music for her entire life. She began her musical journey on piano at the age of three, and she then transitioned to flute, which she has been playing for over 10 years. She has participated in numerous competitions, both on piano and flute. In recent years, she participated in WMU's Concerto Competition, and was a finalist in the Southeast Michigan Flute Association competition in May of this year.
She is a recent graduate from Western Michigan University and has completed her degrees in Music Performance and Spanish. She has participated in numerous ensembles at WMU, including the University Wind Symphony, the University Symphony Orchestra, and the modern music ensemble Birds On A Wire. Locally, she is the flautist for the Civic Theatre in Kalamazoo, and will be playing again for their upcoming winter musical production.
She hopes to eventually continue her education at La Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia in Spain to obtain a Master’s degree in Music.
