Kathy Maloney

Kathy earned her Bachelor of Music (BM) in piano performance from the University of Connecticut, where she studied with Dr. Neal Larrabee, following three years of study with Dr. Robert Glover at the University of Southern Maine. Blending her passions for music and teaching, she also completed music education coursework and later earned a master’s degree in special education from Northern Arizona University (NAU). Since 2017, Kathy has served as a public school resource teacher and is currently the special education teacher at Glencairn Elementary in East Lansing.

In addition to her teaching background, Kathy brings extensive leadership experience from her years as a non-profit performing arts presenter. Her past roles include General Manager of the Flagstaff Symphony, Director of NAU’s Spectrum Performing Arts Series, and Director of Marketing and Program Coordinator for the Bay Chamber Concert Series in Maine.

Kathy previously taught private piano in Connecticut and Arizona. Classically trained yet comfortable working with multiple genres, she welcomes students of all ages—from children to adults—at the beginner and intermediate levels. Her lessons focus on building a strong foundation in technique and theory alongside core musical concepts like rhythm, melody, and harmony. Kathy is thrilled to welcome new students from the Lansing and East Lansing communities.
