Bryan Guarnuccio

Dr. Guarnuccio is a professional performing musician who teaches flute to all ages and abilities, beginning to intermediate oboe, as well as beginning through upper intermediate piano to all ages.


Bryan Guarnuccio holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Michigan State University in flute performance. He also holds master’s degrees in flute and music theory from Bowling Green State University. At both schools, he was principal flute of the premier ensembles while also teaching applied flute lessons, flute methods, and music theory. Additionally, he studied piano and accompanied lessons and recitals throughout his education.


Dr. Guarnuccio currently performs as second flutist in the Lansing Symphony and can be seen in orchestras around Michigan, including the Kalamazoo, Jackson, Southwest Michigan, Flint and Traverse City Symphonies. He has also advanced in the Fischoff International Chamber Music Competition and the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition. In 2012, he made his Carnegie Hall Debut after winning a solo competition sponsored by MSU and Manhattan Concert Productions.

He was formerly on faculty at St. Xavier University where he taught music theory, aural skills, and was a staff accompanist. Bryan is currently the pianist at Peace Lutheran Church as well as one of the pianists at St. Mary’s in Charlotte. For eight seasons, Dr. Guarnuccio has also accompanied and helped coach dozens of students from Charlotte High School at district and State Solo and Ensemble competitions. Currently also on faculty at the Flint Institute of Music, Dr. Guarnuccio strives to help all his students meet their goals, whether educational or recreational.

In early 2020, the Shand Honors Flute Trio, under the direction of Dr. Guarnuccio, was selected to participate in the Global Music Partnership in New York City, which included several performances and master classes in the area as well as performance at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall. Some of his former students have also gone on to major or minor in music with scholarships around the Midwest.
