Music Theory
"I specialize in rock, metal, pop, classical, grunge, trap, shred, guitar technique, music composition, and music theory."
Luis Yzquierdo is from Lima, Peru and currently resides in Kalamazoo, Michigan. His first contact with the guitar was at the age of 14, when his parents bought him his first acoustic guitar for his birthday. At the time, he didn't know of anyone who could really teach him to play the guitar... but luckily, with the internet, was able to learn quickly. When he was 15, his parents gave him an electric guitar. From that moment, he fell in love with the electric guitar and realized that he wanted to study music and dedicate himself to this profession.
After high school, Luis played in various local bands in Peru. He was able to participate in many amateur and professional recordings, where he played a variety of styles from pop rock to hard rock, heavy metal, grunge and alternative rock. Soon after, he had the opportunity to formally study at a music institute in Surco, Peru called Master Music. After finishing his studies, Luis met his wife -- who is also a musician -- and in 2018 they moved to Cusco, the most touristic city in Peru. They worked there offering yoga classes with live music, and played in different bars and hotels in the city. A month before they moved to the US, Luis was able to record his first professional single. Now he has almost three years of experience teaching guitar, bass, ukulele, and piano in the United States. He specializes in rock, metal, pop, classical, grunge, trap, shred, guitar technique, music composition, and music theory. He teaches children, teens, and adults, both in person and online, in Michigan and surrounding states. Currently his work is focused on music production (recording, mixing and mastering) and live concerts. Luis' favorite phrase for music is "practice is the key to everything."
