Yukyung’s musical journey ignited with a captivating debut recital at Seoul
Arts Center at 11 years old. Since that auspicious beginning, Yukyung's trajectory has been defined by a series of notable accolades and resonant performances on esteemed stages around the globe. Hailing from South Korea, Yukyung’s talent blossomed as she triumphed in numerous competitions, including the prestigious concerto competition at the Royal Northern College of Music. Her virtuosity earned her the coveted Bach Prize at the Royal College of Music, solidifying her place among the world’s most promising young musicians.
Notably, Yukyung’s mesmerizing rendition of Schumann’s cello concerto under the baton of Rebecca Tong was broadcast by BBC Radio 3, showcasing her remarkable artistry to audiences worldwide. Her talent caught the attention of the Buxton Music Festival, where she was selected as a featured soloist, captivating listeners with her emotive interpretation of Elgar’s cello concerto.
As an avid chamber musician, Yukyung has collaborated with famous musicians and has graced renowned stages such as the historic Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. As a member of orchestras, including the esteemed New England Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, she has enchanted audiences in venues of unparalleled grandeur, from Jordan Hall to Rudolfinum’s Dvořák Hall. Yukyung’s dedication to her craft extends beyond performance. She has honed her skills under the tutelage of esteemed mentors, including Suren Bagratuni, Raphael Wallfisch, Alexander Chaushian, Chris Hoyle, and Leonard Elschenbroich.
