Abigail Umstead

My name is Abi Umstead. I started playing bass seven years ago. Since then, I have performed in six different countries, I’ve received awards from TC Central High School and MSBOA solo events. I’ve served as principal chair in my high school orchestra for four years and another four years with the Traverse City Civic Symphony Orchestra. Throughout my four years of high school, I played the Electric Bass in the pit orchestra in four different musicals and currently I am participating in my first Old Town Playhouse pit. I am an honorary member of the Trillium Groove full band and I have a deep history and passion of jazz music. I was also a part of the CHS jazz band for six years.

Double bass is my main instrument in which I excel and electric bass would follow suit, but I’ve also played and performed on violin for the past 4 years. I’m currently working on guitar. My goal is to continue to learn and to help others learn along with me!
