Rohan Marr

Kalamazoo

Drumset, Percussion

Chicago native and student downbeat award winner Rohan Marr brings not only a diverse musicality and taste to the music scene but also a collaborative creativity. Through pit percussion experience, playing experience on drums, bass, and guitar, and eight Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) awards in three years, Rohan has pursued excellence through lessons, experimentation with mixing and mastering, performance, and engaging with and teaching both experienced and novice musicians.

His recordings reflect creative endeavors with various individuals and groups—in composition, performance, and production. These foundational elements have been enhanced and expanded in the opportunities available in Western Michigan University’s jazz studies program, including involvement in their lab band, and Afro Latin Jazz ensemble. Rohan now resides in Kalamazoo pursuing his jazz studies degree under the tutelage of Professor Keith Hall, while also performing with multiple different sizes and styles of ensembles including his own trio around the midwest.
