Kalamazoo

Drumset, Percussion

Chris Majure, from Chicago, Illinois, is a jazz drum set student at Western Michigan University, currently in their junior year of the renowned Jazz Studies program. They have had the privilege of studying under some of the Midwest's leading jazz educators and performers, including drummer Keith Hall, percussionist Paul Ross, saxophonist John Wojciechowski, and trumpeter Kevin Dobbeck, as well as gaining guidance from the other amazing Western Faculty. These mentors have helped shape Chris’s deep understanding of rhythm, improvisation, and ensemble playing across a wide range of styles.

Coming from a long line of music educators, Chris combines a natural passion for teaching with a disciplined, student-centered approach. Whether working with beginners or more advanced students, they focus on helping each drummer find their own voice behind the kit while building a strong technical and musical foundation. With real-world performance experience and a background rooted in both jazz tradition and modern playing, Chris is committed to inspiring the next generation of musicians.
