Amy Ridings, flutist, holds a Bachelor’s degree in performance from the Oberlin Conservatory. As a youth she studied with Detroit Symphony personnel; she has been playing the instrument for over 50 years. For a number of years she maintained a studio of 30-40 private students before accepting a position in Phoenix, AZ with Quintessence Chamber Ensemble. While in Phoenix, Amy was also an adjunct faculty member at Grand Canyon University and taught flute and beginning theory at the Scottsdale Summer Band Camp for 19 consecutive summers. For over three decades she has toured and performed with her husband, Patrick Sciannella, as the “world’s only professional flute and tuba duo.” The two have made their home in Michigan since 2011.
