Danny Maura is a student at Western Michigan University pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Choral Music Education with a minor in General Business. Danny has been singing for as long as he can remember, whether that be with is family or in an educational setting. He joined choir in 6th grade, and that's where his love for music really blossomed. He has remained in choir ever since, and has done everything he can to spread music into every part of his life. One way Danny has done this is by participating in theater. He has performed in 11 theatrical productions, landing his first role in middle school and his most recent role in Big Fish at the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre. In regards to choral music, Danny is currently a part of Western Michigan University's top choral ensemble, University Chorale. As a member of University Chorale, Danny has toured Michigan, performed with the Detroit Chamber Winds, and collaborated with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra to perform Mozart's Requiem. He can be seen soon in Western's Fall Opera, playing the part of First Sailor in Dido and Aeneas. Danny has also put on a joint junior recital and plans to perform in a solo senior recital in the fall of 2024.
Throughout his schooling, Danny has held multiple leadership positions in relation to music. In high school, he served as captain of his school's A cappella group, and in college he currently serves as the President of both The WMU Broncords (Western's Tenor/Bass A cappella group) and Western Michigan University's American Choral Director's Association Chapter. Danny also has experience teaching both contemporary, classical and pop A cappella music, both in group and one-on-one settings. This experience comes from the aforementioned leadership in A cappella groups, as well as his experience teaching one-on-one voice lessons at Loy Norrix high school, where he worked weekly with students on both classical and contemporary pieces. When he's not singing, Danny enjoys spending time with his friends, playing DnD, playing video games and hanging out with his cat Steve. Danny is so excited to help you achieve your musical goals, and he hopes you consider him as your voice teacher!
