Josie Palmer

Allen Park

Violin

Josie Palmer found her love of playing the violin at age 7 when her father discovered an old violin, which had been used as a wall hanging for many years in their home, still had quite a bit of life left in it. It was a serendipitous finding, as it is the violin she continues to play on to this day. Growing up, Josie studied under the Suzuki program, attending Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and playing in various groups like the Dearborn Youth Symphony & Detroit Civic Youth Ensembles. Her senior year of highschool, she was honored for her violin playing as a Distinguished Scholar at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival. She furthered her studies at Wayne State University where she earned her music degree, studying violin with Marian Tanau of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

Post undergraduate, Josie has co-founded a string company, Preludio Entertainment, booking and performing in string ensembles all over southeast Michigan. With a passion for composing, Josie has also found herself composing video game soundtracks for Indie Game studio, Azure Ravens Entertainment. Josie's love for creating led her to working at global music house, Yessian Music, where she resides as a production assistant in commercial music and licensing. Josie thoroughly enjoys teaching violin and has been doing so for twelve years now, working with all ages and abilities. Finding creative ways to make lessons enjoyable for the students while maximizing potential is key in her teaching methods.
