Clarke Scherer

Kalamazoo

Bass, Cello

Clarke Scherer is a Double Bassist, Cellist, and future music educator from Farmington Hills, MI. He started his musical career on cello, playing for 5 years, before transitioning to bass in high school. He is currently pursuing his undergraduate in Music Education at Western Michigan University, studying under Dr. Michael Hovnanian.


He currently performs with WMU’s Symphony Orchestra as well as WMU’s Symphonic Band. He has assisted in sectionals around the Kalamazoo area, as well as previously teaching at MASTA String Camp over the summer. He is a huge advocate for both classical and non-classical music, believing that any form of music can be a learning experience.
