Will Crandell

Will Crandell is an innovative young jazz drummer who was a winner of the 2016 National YoungArts Merit award in the jazz discipline. He was also awarded Outstanding Drummer awards at the Essentially Ellington jazz festival in 2015 and 2016 as well as performed in the 2022 Jack Rudin Jazz Championship first place winning band. He has performed in and around the Seattle and Detroit areas both as a sideman and with his own bands, playing everything from swinging straight-ahead jazz to progressive modern sounds of today. Will is fortunate to have studied with such greats as Randy Gelispie, Matt Wilson, Kendrick Scott, and Ted Poor as well as performed with Randy Napoleon, Etienne Charles, Diego Rivera, Michael Dease, and JD Allen, among others. Will holds a bachelor and masters of music from Michigan State University and currently participates in the mid-Michigan jazz scene.
