Lucas Aguado

Kalamazoo

Electric Bass

Lucas Aguado started his musical journey at the age of 8 years old on piano where he played up until the start of high school. Lucas originally started his string career on cello in middle school when his mother said that it wasn’t possible to carry a double bass on his walk to school every day. It wasn’t until high school where he was able to experience the beauty that is the Double Bass. Thankfully, he had experience playing electric from middle school, playing gigs with his father and friends. He also has experience in concert and marching percussion in high school.

Lucas is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music Education, with a focus on strings, at Western Michigan University. At Western Michigan University, he currently studies Double Bass with Michael Hovnanian. He has also studied with Ed Fedewa out in the Lansing area back in high school. He currently plays with WMU’s University Symphony Orchestra as well as WMU’s Wind Symphony Band. He also has played in several local musical pits in the Kalamazoo/West Michigan area as well as a couple small time jazz combos.

Lucas has a big focus on not just Double Bass pedagogy, but overall musicianship development. One of the first and most important things to starting an instrument, is the start of the journey to the love of music.
