Marshall Music adds Media Installation Specialist

Marshall Music has expanded its services with the appointment of Steve Edwards as Director of Media and Installations. Marshall’s has seen a growth in live media requests from schools, churches and performance venues throughout the state. The sophisticated requirements of these growing venues made it obvious that we needed a respected and experienced specialist who could better serve customers’ sound amplification needs from the school jazz band to concert venues in the Wharton Center.

Steve became involved in sound amplification as a young rock drummer. Playing with bands including Blue Money, Shades of Gray, Kathy Ford and Masque, he was constantly frustrated with the poor information he would get regarding sound equipment whenever he visited the local guitar shop. Too often, the salesman did not have practical hands-on experience with the equipment. When he would talk with recording technicians he found they approach sound from a different prospective and didn’t always have the best advice for live audio. So Steve began researching and experimenting with sound equipment.

As his knowledge and expertise grew other musicians started going to him with their live sound application questions. It was a natural progression for Steve to form his own business, Sound EFX, which he owned for twelve years before selling it. He has designed sound systems for churches, clubs and other venues in the United States and Europe. Steve’s credentials include setting up sound for: the Nevell Brothers, Alison Kraus, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Trishia Yearwood, Richard Simons, ABC and the Wharton Center.
