"I felt this was an amazing seminar. I think that every up coming music educator could benefit greatly from your presentation. I felt the whole picture was presented and that is rarely done in such a fun and warming atmosphere.”

Attendees of Planning for a Successful First Year pose for a final picture before leaving the Selmer Main Street Plant after two days of clinics and plant tours.

"This note comes to you out of nowhere, but it has been stimulated by several conversations about the wonderful program you are putting into effect with all the student teachers in your state; VERY WISE!"

Marshall Music Company's two day seminar Planning for a Successful First Year has been an overwhelming success. Marshall, in conjunction with The Selmer Company, sponsored the event on November 29th and 30th, 2001 and Gemeinhardt cosponsored the event May 8th and 9th, 2002.

The seminar is designed to prepare the new music educator with the administrative aspects of being an instrumental music director. Topics include organization, parent and administrative relationships, first year challenges, motivation, retention, recruiting, and the business aspects of music education.

Five educators representing two to thirty-two years teaching experience offer insights and solutions to the daily challenges that present themselves to music educators throughout the year.

Gemeinhardt and Selmer presented tours of their respective manufacturing plants. Participants were able to see the detail and craftsmanship that goes into the manufacture of the instruments their students use.
