Planning for a Successful First Year

"I felt this was an amazing seminar. I think that every up coming music educator could benefit greatly from your presentation. I felt the whole picture was presented and that is rarely done in such a fun and warming atmosphere.”

"This note comes to you out of nowhere, but it has been stimulated by several conversations about the wonderful program you are putting into effect with all the student teachers in your state; VERY WISE!"

"It was a wonderful experience and I recommend it for everyone"

Marshall Music Company's seminar Planning for a Successful First Year has been an overwhelming success in preparing teachers for their first years of teaching. Marshall Music, in conjunction with The Selmer Company sponsor the annual event in May.

The seminar is designed to prepare the new music educator with the administrative aspects of being an
instrumental music director. Topics include organization, parent and administrative relationships, first year challenges, motivation, retention, recruiting, and the business aspects of music education.

A panel of educators and administrators including novice and veteran educators offer insights and solutions to the daily challenges that present themselves to music educators throughout the year.

An optional second day includes a tour of the Conn-Selmer woodwind and Bach brass manufacturing plants in Elkhart, Indiana. Participants were able to see the detail and craftsmanship that goes into the manufacture of the instruments their students use

FREE - The free seminar includes meals, hotel and transportation to Elkhart provided by Marshall Music Company and Conn-Selmer Inc.
