BAND DIRECTOR WORKSHOP

The Band Director Workshop is a one-day seminar held at our Lansing store where music educators can share their experiences and strategies to improve their effectiveness in the classroom. Marshall Music had received several requests to provide a workshop for veteran educators similar to the popular Planning for a Successful First Year workshops we have presented since 2001 for university students who are ready to begin their careers in music education.
The three official panelists for the June, 2007 seminar included, Jim Barry, retired director of bands at Okemos High School, Dennis Ormsbee, retired band director from Grayling and Marshall Music school service representative and Bill Gourley, Marshall Music’s educational consultant and former band director for the Chelsea Schools. In addition to the panel, those attending shared their own valuable experiences and successful strategies with each other. An optional instrument repair workshop was presented by Marshall’s instrument repair manager, Chris Rousch and Dennis.
